Aleksandr is a performer who is also privileged to maintain and nurture a broad professional teaching studio that encompasses all ages and levels. The main teaching studio is based in Adelaide, with monthly workshops and lessons in Melbourne.
Whether working with advanced young professionals, helping a seven year old play her first notes on the instrument, or taking a keen teenage player to a new level, Alex brings his experience, passion and knowledge to meet the student's personal musical needs.
Alex began teaching at age 18. In addition to a wide range of private teaching, has worked as assistant instructor in guitar at Indiana University, USA; teaching assistant to the main professor at the University of Texas at Austin; and guitar lecturer in Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne) and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has taught in a variety of outreach and school contexts. Alex has presented masterclasses and given guest lessons across Australia and New Zealand, as well as in Europe, US, Mexico and Central America.
Many students participate in AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) exams. With the right approach, an AMEB exam can offer an affirming milestone, help some students structure their learning and progress in a balanced way, and offer the reward of milestone recognition.
Students are regularly offered unique opportunities to take supplementary lessons with visiting world-class artists. Several studio workshops take place throughout the year, giving all students an opportunity to play in a solo and in ensemble.
